The Hidden Foundation

Before a single wall goes up, the ground beneath your future home needs careful preparation. Site prep isn't glamorous, but it's arguably the most important phase of construction.

What Site Prep Includes

Clearing and Grading: Removing trees, brush, and debris, then grading the land to create a level building pad with proper drainage slopes.

Soil Stabilization: Ensuring the soil can support your foundation. In Central Virginia, we encounter everything from clay to rocky terrain — each requiring different approaches.

Drainage Planning: Water management starts before the foundation is poured. French drains, swales, and grading direct water away from the home to prevent future problems.

Utility Trenching: Running underground utilities — water, sewer, electric, and communications — to the building site.

The Bailey Builds Difference

Our excavation team, led by Cory Miller, brings years of experience to every site. We invest the time to do site prep right, because a solid foundation starts with solid ground.
